# 2775. Joined the Nfld. Overseas Forestry Unit at age 26 and served  from July 26th, 1940 to July 31, 1946. Assigned as truckers helper loading and offloading logs in camps around Carrbridge, Scotland.

Born on October 6, 1913 to Andrew and Julia ford of Jackson’s Arm, NL. After returning home he built a new home for himself and his parents.  He returned to the fishery and worked as a fisherman, sealer and trapper until he was 73 years old.  He grew all his own vegetables until his 84th birthday when he developed health problems Worked as a fisherman, sealer and trapper.  He did much volunteer work in the community and contributed regularly to Oxfam. He died at age 90.
